Who stands behind Elevate
Three New Zealanders, Sean Ross, Dominic McKiernan and Hayden Breese believe the world could be a little bit better if was easier to stand at your desk. All of us do a lot of sitting and have come together from IT, Creative, and design backgrounds, it made sense to try and combine our skills to develop this product.
When we first approached this problem we were disappointed at how large and bulky existing standing solutions had become. What we wanted was something that could do more than just get the job done. We wanted something that improved our physical and visual environment.
No tools required
Elevate comes flat packed and assembles in seconds with no tools required. There is no need for a bulky standing desk, simply assemble and dissemble or move aside to return to a sitting position.

A natural addition to your modern working environment
Lightweight, portable and a small footprint, Elevate is the perfect way to position your body and your workstation.
Most standing solutions raise the entire work surface. This can leave you staring down at a screen or with your keyboard and mouse too high. Elevate places the screen at a more comfortable level and provides a secondary keyboard and mousing area.
What others are saying and why this is important…
“Scientists find that prolonged sitting is linked to increased risk of certain cancers such as colon cancer. What’s more, it didn’t matter how active the study participants were when they were not sitting.”

“The studies just keep coming. Sitting our life away, it seems, may be very bad for our health and even our life expectancy. Just since January, researchers have reported that sitting for long hours is linked to:
- Worse mental health
- A higher risk of death from heart disease and other causes
- A higher risk of being disabled
The new studies add even more weight to earlier research suggesting that too much sitting is bad — even if you get regular exercise.

“According to a research team from the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center, each time unit of sitting cancels out 8 percent of your gain from the same amount of running. In other words, if you run for an hour in the morning, and then sit for 10 hours during the day, you lose roughly 80 percent of the health benefit from your morning workout.
CONCLUSIONS: These data demonstrate a dose-response association between sitting time and mortality from all causes and cardiovascular disease, independent of leisure time physical activity. In addition to the promotion of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and a healthy weight, physicians should discourage sitting for extended periods.”

“We all know that sitting is the new smoking — it raises the risk of disability, diabetes, heart disease and cancer, not to mention obesity. And research also shows that even if you hit the gym or the jogging path every day, sitting is bad for you.” “prolonged TV viewing and time spent in other sedentary pursuits is associated with increased risks of colon and endometrial cancer,”
How does it work
The stand itself slopes on an angle away from the user and is slots naturally into its base, stabilising the design. This creates a sturdy, stable structure for weight bearing items such as laptops, keyboards, and a mouse. Some users may prefer further stabilisation and a supporting rod is included that can be inserted into the back of the unit to maximise stability.
Evenly placed slots in the main vertical frame allow the user to adjust the height of the keyboard level. Equally the top level which holds the laptop, is height adjustable using the slots.
